Here in the east we have dull, hatch-matching colors; the blue jeans of flies. Out west it's all about flashy overstatement. I guess I'll be packing my tux.Steve Zakurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14806203921155483420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754321616639572513.post-50445401680645339292012-06-26T10:40:11.288-04:002012-06-26T10:40:11.288-04:00E.J.: I believe Royal Wulff is the correct term. Not sure why, but I guarantee you that's why I've not had success with it. I guess I'm not sure what to make of that red band. Is it a cumberbund for the evening hatch gala? The one that I own rests in my hat band, a nice piece of adornment, unused, ready to save the day I lose my fly box down river...Daniel Silverberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01799002502413576049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754321616639572513.post-19733533683484658302012-06-25T20:25:20.238-04:002012-06-25T20:25:20.238-04:00In Great Britain it is called a royal Wulff, thoug...In Great Britain it is called a royal Wulff, though the wet is called the Coachman.

I don't know why I wrote this. This is one of few flies I never fish through lack of confidence. Which goes to show what a funny thing confidence is, and even stranger that trout take such objects.English Jonnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14583165989353165951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754321616639572513.post-80737437706751532202012-06-23T15:57:43.110-04:002012-06-23T15:57:43.110-04:00Let us hope!Let us hope!Steve Zakurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14806203921155483420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754321616639572513.post-89806007263233044992012-06-23T09:14:56.638-04:002012-06-23T09:14:56.638-04:00The Royal Coachman... Getting the wing in the right place and of the right proportions seems to be the tricky part. My second attempt was a little scruffier.Steve Zakurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14806203921155483420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754321616639572513.post-82667377480566283512012-06-22T10:19:42.007-04:002012-06-22T10:19:42.007-04:00Let us hope the trout feel similarly. :)Let us hope the trout feel similarly. :)Steve Zakurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14806203921155483420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754321616639572513.post-21260800175137089362012-06-22T10:11:00.259-04:002012-06-22T10:11:00.259-04:00Very nicely done, sir!Very nicely done, sir!Ben B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02460803133919045917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754321616639572513.post-69539686712230395892012-06-22T10:04:40.725-04:002012-06-22T10:04:40.725-04:00Nicely done.
