Tom Rosenbauer, Angler of the Year

Usually this whole "[INSERT ROLE] of the Year" stuff just doesn't interest me much. Mostly cause the stuff they're being recognized for either doesn't interest me or I don't see how this person influenced the thing they're touted for. Mark Zuckerberg, Time Person of the Year?! Nice website he's got there but jeez, it's not world peace. Didn't make or break my year.

Now, Angler of the Year, that's something I can connect with.

And Tom Rosenbauer as Angler of the Year? Makes perfect sense.

Marketeer. Author. Conservationist. Podcaster. Trout (Steelhead, Salmon, Stiper, Bonefish, Tarpon, etc) Fisher person extraordinaire. And, a decent fellow with which to spend a few hours on the water.

Long overdue.

And while his personal accomplishments are in and of themselves worthy of note his name is inextricably linked, and perhaps synonymous with, a great company.

Unless you've been sitting under a rock for the past couple of years, Orvis has been out in front, in my humble opinion (I just couldn't bring myself to type "IMHO"), connecting with their customers in new and interesting ways. Podcasts. Facebook. Blogs that rock.

Great products. Stunning Customer Service/Support. And now, great community.

Like any great person (should that be capitalized) there is a deep, talented supporting cast of co-workers, family and friends behind Tom and they should probably bask in some of the glow with him, but he's the front man and a very good one.

Congratulations, Tom.
