Quick Sips: Climate Change & Stupid

14 comments:

  1. The time and effort that so many people put into the restoration, and also the struggle of the salmon to go from a fry to a ten pound sea run fish.

And how can an angler not know the difference, not to mention the shop where the fish was brought into to be weighed.

  2. I'm not overly surprised that common folks don't know the difference but the shop should have picked that up immediately.

I especially like that the radio transmitter was "transmitting from dry land in Bethel". Nice touch.

  3. As far as the salmon thing goes, I actually feel a little badly for the guy. Most people here have never seen one in person and to try to tell the difference based on the pics in the regulations books is not always easy to do. That said, even if it was a large brown, it's more reason to take a pic, release it and have a replica mount made. The debate aside, that particular fish wasn't the most attractive specimen...not gonna be the greatest looking mount...

  4. Here's what I don't understand about the whole global warming debate...

So a bunch of people insist that global exists and a bunch of other people think it's a huge myth...it seems like everyone should agree that what is said to cause global warming is bad for both us and the planet, whether or not it is what is the cause of global warming. So...why the hell don't we all agree to attack what is said to be the cause of global warming without the stupid debate?? Its certainly not going to hurt any of us! It sounds simple, right? I think a lot of people aren't happy unless they're swimming in drama and/or bickering with someone (about anything).

Bingo. There are plenty of folks who are for and against the debate simply to be for or against something.

Same thing goes for tax increases: The people who are most violently against tax increases are those who'll never have to pay the tax. I think they just like the argument.

  6. Interesting that over 40% think that nature will find a way. TU has its hands full.

  7. Or should TU just throw in the towel and go fishing cause nature's got it covered.

  8. I've caught a lot of large salmon, and when I do, I immediately take one of the extra sheets of aluminum foil that lines my fishing cap, and wrap the fish in that. The foil blocks the alien brain waves AND scrambles the radio-tracking signals.

    Win-win.

  9. This is the kind of expertise we need around here! I only carry one sheet of aluminum foil in my cap so I'm less than prepared (unless I'm willing to risk exposure to the alien brain waves). Thanks for the tip!

  10. One looks a bit silly on your head, the other is a fish.

  11. That's a sad stat...call global warming what you will, but there is no denying that our environment and climates are changing...

...don't worry, nature will take care of it
